About Deb Ranson

Debbie Ranson is a prominent figure in the medical community with a wealth of experience and dedication to various organisations. Her memberships include being a Co-founder of the Australian Cannabis Nurses Association since 2023 and a member of the Cannabis Nurses Network since 2014. Additionally, she is associated with The Society of Cannabis Clinicians since 2016, and holds the distinction of being a founding member of The Society of Cannabis Clinicians Australian Chapter since 2020 now known as cannabis clinicians Australia (CCA). She is also a founding member of the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA).

In 2024, Debbie’s outstanding contributions to cannabis nursing were nationally recognised when she was nominated for and won the prestigious CannaBiz Nurse of the Year Award. This accolade celebrates her exceptional dedication to advancing medicinal cannabis education and advocacy.

In her endeavors, Deb Ranson volunteers for the not-for-profit organisation United in Compassion (UIC), which is owned and operated by Lucy Haslam in memory of her son, Dan Haslam. Furthermore, she serves as an Ambassador for Drive Change, demonstrating her commitment to various social causes.

Deb Ranson is an active member of The Queensland Nurses and Midwives Union, where she advocates for causes such as ratios in aged care and policies surrounding medicinal cannabis, homelessness, and the right to choice matters. She is also a member of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Queensland branch and the Australian College of Nurses.

Recognised for her achievements, Debbie was awarded the Green Flower Scholarship in 2020. This scholarship, issued by Green Flower, acknowledges her dedication to cannabis medicine education. Furthermore, she holds the distinction of being a Pan Pacific Games silver medalist in softball, achieved during the Australia (Regals) vs New Zealand Panpacs in 2000.

In 2020, Deb was honored as one of nine nurses nominated by the Queensland Nurses & Midwives Union (QNMU) for the Women of the World (WOW) recognition. This acknowledgment highlights her exceptional contributions during the global pandemic, celebrating her as a frontline hero.
